BIOLUMINESCENCE

Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism.
It is form of Chemiluminescence.
Scientists believe that bioluminescence may also be a form of defense for the life-forms.
Bioluminescence is found in many marine organisms: bacteria, algae, jellyfish, worms, crustaceans, sea stars, fish, and sharks to name just a few.
In fish alone, there are about 1,500 known species that luminescence.
It is the reaction occur species must contain "Luciferin", in the molecules when react with the Oxygen to produce emitting of light.

Hi everybody, we have see rivers or herbs in the evening time when one fly insect was lightning tiny flick on and off.It will occurs the abdomen of the insect.
In this insect called as "Firefly" or "Lightning bugs".
Firefly is not a true flies, because it is not under the insect order of "Diptera" when its actually under the order of "Coleoptera".In the Coleoptera order may have only contain " beetles and weevils ".
Firefly insect family called - "Lampyridae"
In this family are flat,elongate,soft bodies and nocturnal beetles.
Larvae are called 'glow worms'.
Adult - Male- well developed wings and eyes and the photogenic luminous organ are present in 6th and 7th abdominal segments. Females - wingless and larviform with reduced eyes and the photogenic organ present(7th abdominal segment).
All fireflies glow as larvae.firefly larvae contain chemicals that are distasteful or toxic.

When any lighting objects produce heat but "Firefly produce Cold light, with no infrared or ultraviolet frequencies"

In Firefly , light is produced by the Oxidation of a substance called Luciferin(2,4 carboxyl thyzol hydroxyl benzothyzol) or photoprotein .
Luciferin (in the presence of an enzyme called luciferase).
Beetle luciferin (also known as d-luciferin) is synthesized as the monopotassium salt and is a substrate for the beetle luciferase reporter systems. d-luciferin is provided for those researchers who prefer to formulate their own assay reagents for monitoring in vitro or in vivo luciferase activity.
Firefly luciferase is used in forensics and the enzyme has medical uses in particular for detecting the presence of ATP or magnesium.
When Oxygen and the luciferin with oxidized to releasing the energy as light. Magnesium is needed for light production.
